Texas Instruments ia a huge semiconductor company with important customers throughout the world (though Nokia is a major customer and Nokia’s loss of marketshare is continuing to hurt TI). TI just reported earnings and the company slightly missed both top and bottom line estimates. Fundamental analysis on TI’s report will center on the impact they are feeling from the Japan disasters which are impacting the company, ”
Here’s the more important commentary from the CEO as it pertains to our bullish smartphone/telecom infrastructure thesis goes: “New orders, however, were strong through the quarter, indicative of the underlying strength in our markets.”
Later he added, “Provided consumer and enterprise demand remain strong, we expect a good second half of the year.”
Technical anslsysis on TI’s report is thus — the stock is down fractionally after hours…and technically-speaking will be a good “tell” for further earnings reports as we are only about 20% through earnings season and most of our stocks will be reporting in the next three weeks.
