@hc2002: no one knows what sept will bring. We are here and now in AUG and many stocks have corrected before the market did and have for the most part stabilized. Look at Amzn, goog,cien,fslr,lnkd, sndk all have corrected 5-10%. FSLR declines nearly 40% so these stocks have since held their ground if not moved higher a bit as the markets have been correcting. Yes Sept have been volatile but is the Aug correction superseding the Sept norm? All I know is we are oversold in a downtrend and could easily bonce hard. I know Cody is looking for more volatility but for now the stocks mentioned have have firmed up and arent falling further. Today there is strong PMI data from germany and the DAX is up 1% and our futures are green for now.

@jakef1111: Cien- Well if the data is RT Cien may just be in the sweet spot and confirm their positive story they have been telling for 2 qtrs now. The stock has corrected from 23.3 to 20.6 over 10% so anticipating bad news. Lets see what Mon brings for their earnings.

@JeffDaniel: i think cody is money to expect a rise to 550-600 in my eyes its a rise to the mean it was priced perfect at 700 and it was stupid cheap at 400… They have a great ecosystem and getting lower cost point phones in emerging market will only help as ppl graduate to the high end phone… Not a lot of turnover for the iphone vs the other phones..like everything else u avg in… I took advantage of mini options to get closer to ITM and avg into april 2014 s

Anybody agree with me that this bump up in MSFT may be only transient, since (a) there’s a long time coming before they find a new CEO and (b) the stock will hover while he/she gets his/her feet wet, a la ZNGA and others. I guess I admire Cody’s loyalty and his pledge to his friend, but it may be too soon to count on a significant rise in the price after today’s pop based on this alone. Or am I missing something?

horrendous new-home sales- Look what happens when bond market goes NUTS and rates on the 10 year spiked to near 3% w/o cause and this terrible new home sales decline because rates rose so fast in such short border in panicked people from a normally hard process to step back completly rates now on 10yr down near 3% today back to 2.8% should be in 2.5-2.75 perhaps market may get some momentum bk. At the same time lets trade individual stocks like FB, GLD,LNKD,ZNGA etc etc

depending on your stock weighting it was a pretty good week. Apple stabalizing at higher levels working off overbought nature, FB breaking out, Gld breaking out, lnkd doing well again. A few stocks found their footing, goog, amzn,FSLR, Cien lets see if the down can get back to 15300 and if it acts as over head resistance. However as usual this has become a stock pickers market where individual names are doing quite well

@eryba1: that was a fascinating McClellan article above on the moves in gold. Did “Cody’s idea” relate to the technical aspect or to the reference to the difference between the moon’s apogee and perigee? Both are fascinating AND convincing — but here’s the deal: if the second (moon) predictor has any validity (and it sure does seem to), doesn’t NASA or somebody have a way to know that difference in advance … and thus the move in price of gold? Any scientists out there? Anybody? (Remember, McClellan says don’t ask “why?”) think I’m going to check this out further!

Strange we dropped at the last 30-60 min yesterday yet Oil did not spike, defense contractors were in the red? Gold is perking up this morning as a flight to safety reflex. @eryba1: FB doesn’t seem to give you time to think; every time it spikes down there seem to be plenty of buyers to drive price back up. Consensus always seems to be looking for an entry just under where there are buyers. Last week talk was of a pullback to 34-35 and it almost got to $36. @eryba1: Have FSLR, SNDK, CIEN, JNPR. Not sure I’m comfortable with GOOG or AMZN. Burned badly buying too much AAPL that I still hold with cost over $600. In past I like to look at these by moving the decimal left. GOOG then can be viewed as an $86 stock with a 2 year range of $76 to $93. Hard to make money unless you’re willing to buy a larger stake, trade options with all the timing and premium risks, or HOLD for the longer term.

@carl: I have had this discussion with cody many times on the weekly chat in private etc. Cody has said consistently he believes the scenario will mimic what happened in mid 1998-2000 as rates rose savings acct went 2-3% yield on hi yield accts all the way to 6% At the same time stocks had their best run from mid 1998-March 2000.

Gold doing well breadth is terrible and we will one again be VERY oversold if we close here or lower. people dumping going into long weekend is what it seems like vix KIND of getting jump up just 11%

OK, so maybe that’s the strategy. However banks will not be in good shape either. Is it too late to buy physical gold? Cody thinks that GLD will be too risky, so maybe put some money into money market funds and some into physical gold if you can find it.

@carl: I wouldn’t pay more than $25-27 per ounce for physical silver or more than $1500 per ounce for physical gold for the next few months. As you guys know, I loaded up on the physical back a few weeks ago at the lows and my own cost basis is about $20-21 per ounce for the silver and about $1350 per ounce for the gold.

@jakef1111: As much as I want the economy to run on its own strength and stop with the FED taper on off talk so we can focus on individual stocks this geo political issue, rates were near 3% on the 10yr, housing starts plunged as a result of fast rising mortgage rates its hard to see tapering just yet if that matters at all anymore. It will come whether now or 3-6 months from now let it come

@doug.sekula: When the TRIn is at 2+ up 164% today things R getting extreme and can always repeat this sort of negativity. down is now down from 15,650 to 14770 = near 900 pts straight down 6% pullback with no real bounces to speak of that index is quite oversold the most in over a year

These are just indicators though at times of fear like euphoria things can stretch further than one expects as these are just stocks, war rhetoric trumps it all, fear over LONG labor day weekend. So lets see how the rest of the week goes.

I need some help and advice from the TWC community. What is the best way to receive TWC trade alerts in real time? In the larger context, how do TWC’ers manage the information / news flow we are inundated by? I receive email notifications of TWC alerts. However, my email is also crowded with messages from my bank, utility bills, broker confirmations, etc. My job precludes my staying glued to my inbox, the markets, the TWC site, or my positions in constant real time. I also don’t think it is healthy to obsessively follow the constant, news flow driven fluctuations. One could drive oneself mad. I welcome any tips, strategies, suggestions to help me manage this flood of information.

Also, does the TWC information system have the capability to generate text message alerts for Cody’s trades alerts? My broker’s text alert system helps a great deal by providing price and volume alerts for my portfolio and watch list stocks. Thank you in advance for any and all suggestions.

@SamsaricSufferer: Open a VIP mail acct and have only critical e-mail U want go into that inbox. As for trading in real time. Codys buys are not like Carl Ichan in that it MOVES the stock so if U get an alert on a normal avg day and act on it for the most part the stock has not moved because of the buy /sell action taken. Cody is trimming winners and adding to stocks that have corrected.

Its too early to tell but is gold’s rise to 1433 and now slow fade all day foreshadowing Syria by discounting it? is Oils ramp next to give way? In that case stocks would ramp higher from quite bearish sentiment oversold nature. Lets see how this plays out. Dow if we ever see a good bounce will have over head resistance at 15250-15300.
