Covid In The Home And Other Notes

Covid In The Home And Other Notes

It’s been a wild week or so at my house. My oldest daughter, Lyncoln, tested positive for Covid late in the week. My wife and her father tested positive when we got their results back early Saturday morning. Somehow, although Lori had been quarantining with my littlest daughter, Amaris, for four days and I had been quarantining with Lyncoln for four days…somehow we came up negative and have pretty much no symptoms. Wifee has not been feeling well but Lyncoln has mostly bounced back and hopefully will soon get back to her newest favorite activity — jump roping. I’ve been getting little sleep as I help with all of this at home. I made two one hour drive trips to the nearest pharmacy that was open but I did hit a bucket of balls outside at a nearby driving range while waiting for the pharmacy to open. My mother-in-law also is negative and has been able to help with Amaris and I am presently at the office for a while here (my father-in-law still keeps helping with various outdoor tasks but he’s also not feeling well). I made a huge batch of chicken and veggie noodle soup on Saturday and we’ve been taking lots of vitamins and drinking lots of water. Head down, trudging through.

As for the markets, the markets don’t like two things today — The Fed’s saying it’s going to do what it has to do to get the inflation cat back in the bag and probably more so, the news flow starting to indicate that Russia’s relentlessness isn’t fading.

I’m not doing any trading today in the personal account, but I did add some AMD and some new ARKK puts along with a little other small trades — mostly small trims of SHOP and AMZN and GOOG and a couple others in the hedge fund. Here’s a couple other questions I missed in the Trading With Cody inbox last week. We’ll do this week’s Live Q&A Chat Wednesday at 12pm ET.

Q. How will the crumbling of the petro dollar (China buying oil for yuan, Russian taking gold for oil) affect the Oil & Gas market and the stock market?

A. Not sure we’ll see the outright crumbling of the petro dollar any time soon, but this is a bit more of a threat to its dominance than we’ve seen in decades.

Q. Cody, I hate TV shows like Dr. Oz or the Doctors because when they had a daily show he had to tell us about some miracle medical thing on a daily basis. I hate Cramer because he has a daily show and he has to tell us about some miracle stock on a daily basis. Do you feel pressure to tell us about some stock every week? I’m OK with you not telling us anything for a couple of weeks. Prayers for health for your home. Blessings.

A. In the past, I’ve written many times about how part of the biggest value of Trading With Cody is that I often remind you all NOT to trade. And I’ve written quite a few times about how sometimes I do feel pressure to come up with new ideas but that is also just part of the process and I deal with it. I will be taking a week off from writing soon though and I’ll let you all know beforehand.  I do feel pressure to write about the markets and analyze the markets as part of my hedge fund job anyway, so sending that onto you guys isn’t a big deal. That said, you might have noticed that I do go through phases of writing more vs other times writing less. Thank you the kind words.

I’ve got three back-to-back zoom calls to deal with and then I’ll be working from the house the rest of the day.

Finally, I came across the pictured Putin graffiti on a political sign near the golf course near the Holloman Air Force Base in Alamogordo NM. I am confused by it.

See you at the chat Wednesday.

Peace.
