Here's a list of my positions, in approximate order from largest to smallest, though the variations between relative sizes are decreasing as time wears on and I get these longer positions built up. We'll have some shorter-term and newer name trades in coming weeks to complement these longer-term positions. Longs … [Read more...] about Here’s a list of my positions, in approx…

Silver has dislocated itself to the down…
Silver has dislocated itself to the downside again today, losing almost 5% this morning and making our SLV puts pop. Gold down. It sure seems to me that silver and not gold is the driver of the direction of the precious metals everyday. Nice gains in the portfolio again this morning and I've not pulled any triggers so far today. As noted by one of our loyal subscribers, … [Read more...] about Silver has dislocated itself to the down…

With Nokia, Ciena and Riverbed all up 3% plus today, we ended up nicely green by the close after bobbing up and down most of the day. We'll take it. I bought those long-dated Softee call options and that was the only trigger pull of the day from my headquarters. Nuance announced earnings after the bell, but that was already baked in because they'd pre-announced the upside … [Read more...] about With Nokia, Ciena and Riverbed all up 3%…

Good morning and welcome to the terror dome. The markets tried to open flattish, but quickly faded lower and it feels, shall we say, "squishy" out there this morning. The markets and individual stocks need to shake out the weak hands and punish the johnny-come-lately-bulls who were late to the rally. Thus, today's and this week's overall ugly action. It's a … [Read more...] about Good morning and welcome to the terror d…

It's a flattish open, but the story of the day is the 15% drop, the crushing of RIMM. I've kept us out of RIMM and even had it as a short position in the Revolution Investing model portfolio last year before I started trading again where we rode it down from over $100 to some big profits before covering. Microsoft is down a couple percent after reporting a strong quarter, but … [Read more...] about It’s a flattish open, but the story of t…

Did I mention earnings season? Did I mention I thought individual earnings reports would be the next catalyst for our stocks? Here are some earnings updates from our stocks from the last 16 hours: 1. Apple - blowout, huge, amazing quarter with typical Apple-esque conservative guidance. Earnings nearly doubled...and we were talking a huge multi-billion dollar earnings base … [Read more...] about Did I mention earnings season? Did I me…

Here's some helpful fundamental guidance of what to look for in Nokia's upcoming earnings conference call, from Gleacher & Co (they are very bearish on Nokia...and it's always good to use the other side's analysis in addition to your own): Nokia is scheduled to report 1Q11 earnings before market open on Thursday. Expect tough 1Q. We are at €0.09 EPS on €10.2bil … [Read more...] about Here’s some helpful fundamental guidance…
