May 24, 2011 by Cody Willard

Well, losses in our SLV and RVBD positions neutralize our gains in LPS and with the markets just not finding any legs today, I finished up in the red for the day.  I bought some Google calls and did little else trading today. Tomorrow I'll run through a fundamental and a technical trading update on some of our positions.   Thanks for reading today and I'll see you back here … [Read more...] about Well, losses in our SLV and RVBD positio…

May 20, 2011 by Cody Willard

Here's a list of my positions, in approximate order from largest to smallest, though the variations between relative sizes are decreasing as time wears on and I get these longer positions built up.   We'll have some shorter-term and newer name trades in coming weeks to complement these  longer-term positions. Longs … [Read more...] about Here’s a list of my positions, in approx…

May 19, 2011 by Cody Willard

After having flagged them as I was doing them for you dear subscribers, I've still got my GLD and SLV puts which have some big profits on them.  I just added to the hedge of those a by adding some more DBA.  Here's what the DBA profile is: The investment seeks to track the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of the Deutsche Bank Liquid Commodity Index - … [Read more...] about After having flagged them as I was doing…

May 18, 2011 by Cody Willard

Nice up day for the markets and for our portfolio.  Steady as she goes for now. Let's hit today's big movers and a note on each: Cypress -- up 5% today. It's been a steady climber for a long time now and has been in pause mode for a few weeks.  Look at the chart and you'll see it sure looks like it wants to run again.  I'm a buyer  or holder of Cypress. Live Nation … [Read more...] about Nice up day for the markets and for our …

Rougher day for the portfolio today than…

May 16, 2011 by Cody Willard

Rougher day for the portfolio today than we have had even on most down days of late.  Our silver puts and other bearish bets were all profitable for us today, while most of our longs were in the red.  So be it. Three quick news articles for you to look over tonight.  First, Apple's got it figured out: iPhone share of phone market in Q1: 5% volumes, 20% revenues, 55% … [Read more...] about Rougher day for the portfolio today than…

May 13, 2011 by Cody Willard

What a week it was.  Lots of back and forth and grind, but the stock markets end up just about flat on the week as we head into the final contra-hour of the week.  Our portfolio actually had a pretty good week though, much better than the broader markets, with our silver, Riverbed and Nuance gains. I've done a little bit of buying as noted this week and even covered the ETF … [Read more...] about What a week it was.  Lots of back and fo…

What one stock taketh away, another give…

May 12, 2011 by Cody Willard

What one stock taketh away, another giveth. (Flip it.) The hits we're taking in Cisco and Celestica are being countered by the profits in Riverbed and Silver. Most of the rest of the portfolio is hardly budging and that means our portfolio is flat-to-slightly down on the day, much like the broader markets. I find myself almost disappointed that Cisco isn't down more so we … [Read more...] about What one stock taketh away, another give…

May 12, 2011 by Cody Willard

Cisco and silver are each down almost 5% in the early action. On the conference call cisco CEO guided slightly lower again for next quarter for the fourth time in a row. I am digging through their report and others but the upshot is that I plan to hold my cisco position steady. We were adding to our cisco at these levels a few weeks ago and we are not far from my cost basis … [Read more...] about Cisco and silver are each down almost 5%…

May 11, 2011 by Cody Willard

Let's review what I've been doing to re-build my portfolio in broad terms. From a strategic standpoint, I've been buying the best companies I can find in the App Revolution and the Cloud Revolution which I think will explode into a new bubble in coming years and I've complimented those longs with long positions in the commodities-we-consume like the DBA and a huge … [Read more...] about Let’s review what I’ve been doing to re-…
