Tech themes for 2018 and CES with Neil Patrick Harris, Terrell Owens and Bobby Farrelly
I’ll be at CES for three days next week as my company, The IAm App, will be making some big announcements about how we’ve partnered with Samba TV to put some of The IAm Apps, including The IAm Neil Patrick Harris App, The T.O. Sports Network App hosted by Terrell Owens, and The Farrelly Brothers Movie App onto millions of smart TVs in the next month. NPH, Terrell Owens and Bobby Farrelly will all be joining me and my team at CES for these announcements.
As a matter of fact, next Monday from 2-2:30pm at the Aria’s Pinyon Ballroom in Las Vegas, I’m going to be hosting a fireside chat on opening day at CES with my old friend, Neil Patrick Harris. We’ll be introduced Ashwin Navin, the CEO of our partner Samba TV, and Neil and I will be talking about:
Neil Patrick Harris and Cody Willard reflect on the evolution of media and discuss how achieving a deeper understanding of today’s modern viewership behaviors can – and should – influence creative and ultimately shape the ways people interact with brands and personalities.
I’ve got meetings set up with giant and start up: driverless car companies, smart TV companies, content companies, artificial intelligence companies, sponsors, equipment vendors and so on while at CES and you know me — I’ll be analyzing all of it and will report back with new insights, analysis and information for you dear Trading With Cody subscribers.
Speaking of which, yesterday I hit on some broader economic and stock market themes for 2018 and I realized this morning that I neglected to mention what I’ve long considered to be the most important economic and stock market theme of my lifetime — Revolutionary Technologies!
I take the idea that we continue to live in a time of technological revolutions that impact all facets of our lives, make us ever more efficient, create trillions of dollars of new economic activity and prosperity (that enables the 0% interest rates and bailouts and endless wars and other spending/plunders by the governments of the world too of course), empowers millions of people to write/photo/video injustices; but also come with the downsides of echo-chambering our news, enabling trolls and hatred, and so on. Anyway, here are the most important tech themes for 2018:
Artificial Intelligence. From Spotify’s AI-empowered song referrals that often make me smile when I list to Discover Weekly to the ads that Facebook shows you to the ease with Alexa easily knew what I wanted when I said “Alexa, order 3-start ping pong balls” last weekend, AI is here now in a still very rudimentary form, but it’s about to permeate ever more apps, platforms, businesses, etc.
Driverless. Spending on driverless is exploding all over the world, as most of the world’s most well-funded companies with trillions collectively to invest, are focused on driverless. Baidu partnered with Blackberry this morning, which is exactly what we’ve been looking for.
Video content. Apple, Google, Amazon, Netflix, Chinese companies and so many other companies are investing big bucks in video content too. Will this peak in 2018? Will the growth continue? Regardless, 2018 is likely to see hundreds of billions of dollars pouring into various forms of video content.
