I’d mentioned a couple weeks ago that my hedge fund is going to do some tiny investments in early-stage private startups to help create a diversified portfolio and am getting started doing so on Republic, a crowdfunding platform built from the ground up to be SEC-compliant.
Thirteen startups and one crypto are currently raising money on Republic. I’ve taken a look at several of them and have some ideas as to which one or two I might start with. But I’d like to crowdsource some analysis from our incredible TradingWithCody.com community before I fully decide where I’ll place my bets first.
Please take a look at Republic and let me know which startups do you guys find most interesting on there right now? If so inclined, please include a comment about why you like the ones you find compelling. I’ll probably share your comments and votes with Republic, just FYI. In fact, if you have any feedback about Republic and the idea that we’re going to be investing in some crowdfunding startups, I’d love to hear it. (You can ask me to keep your feedback confidential and I’d never share it in that case, of course.)
On another note, I’ve booked a trip to NYC for next week, June 5-7. I’d love to meet up any of you Trading With Cody subscribers to talk stocks, markets and to learn more about you. Email me if you want to grab a coffee or a beer. I’ll be working out of my midtown NYC offices, will be running around town for meetings with current friends, former colleagues and other things. I’ll even be playing guitar for a Rolling Stone cover song or two with the Rolling Bones at Red Lion (151 Bleecker St) on June 6 at around midnight.
I’m looking forward to spending a few days immersed in the NYC economy and getting a sense of the mood, the sentiment, the conversations and how they’re framed and what people are choosing to talk about. I plan on doing a lot of analysis and writing when I get back so stay tuned for some longer pieces on a variety of topics.
